The new year means new beginnings for many people, including new projects and renovations for their home. One big request we see is to help homeowners remodel their kitchen area. Here are 3 tips that you can use when planning to remodel your kitchen this year:
1. Use Contrast Colors on Cabinets
Breathe new life into your kitchen by:
- Using contrast colors or stain on cabinets located on island or hood cabinet
- Contrast upper and base cabinets to create a subtle focal point and unique look all your own
There are endless possible choices a designer can help you put together for a stand out kitchen remodel.
2. Create an Accent Tile Backsplash
Instead of an accent tile in your backsplash above the cook top. Work with one of our pros to choose a unique glass that will accentuate your countertop and have it installed.
Extend tile all the way to the ceiling on all high backsplash walls to give appearance of height and create a stunning focal point. This can be an especially great tip if you can’t remodel the whole kitchen and you happen to have great cabinets and countertops but want a fresh updated look.
3. Be Mindful of Your Appliance and Counter Space
The most important thing to consider; whether working with a professional or doing it yourself, is to be sure to make notes and pay attention to how you use appliances, faucets, countertop space, etc. That way when you remodel, the end result not only appears to be the kitchen of your dreams but it also functions like your kitchen never has before.
A good designer will come equipped with questions to help steer the project in the best directions for your preference in taste and meet all your functional needs. That is the best of both worlds when remodeling and it is what you deserve for your project!
Many homeowners eventually confront the situation whether to update current home or buy a new one. With the market strengthening, buying a new home may seem like a tempting offer, but before you go out and spend your whole nest egg, here are a couple reasons to remodel rather than embark on a house hunt:
Every home remodeling contractor always faces the task of clean up and disposal when completing a demo job. How we differ from most companies when we dispose of demo is instead of just getting a dumpster and tossing things in, we donate items to Habitat For Humanity and other recycling agencies.
We take on this task at our own expense for transport and separation, as well as the careful demo process to preserve quality, reusable items that can be donated. We do all this to keep building resources out of the local landfill.
We use a dumpster company that sorts the recyclable materials from the garbage themselves while providing jobs in the process. When we are working in an area that the company doesn’t service, when we can, we sort on the job as well rather than just tossing items in the dumpster.
As a result of our faith, we believe that we are called to steward our current existing resources for home builing and for clients in the same way we are called to be good stewards over that which God gives us. If we can reuse or donate or recycle we prevent costly waste or help projects that otherwise would never come to fruition to get underway.
Beyond taking them to shop for materials, most contractors will tell customers to let them know what they are installing for finishes, or the client will hire a decorator to work with them which can drain your budget very quickly. Continue reading
